Using LegalCitation to generate citations for a document


To generate citations for a law review article or comment:
  1. Prepare your document with Access keys, citing the authorities entered in your database.

    Example document with Access keys:

    You can also include the Access keys in your footnotes, along with signals and other explanatory text.

  2. Start LegalCitation, and then open the database containing records for the authorities cited in the document.

  3. Choose Generate, Citations for document. The Generate Citations dialog will display.

  4. Set the options in the dialog for the citation style.

    To write footnotes in Bluebook style, for instance, you would set the dialog as follows:

  5. LegalCitation will scan the document, and then write footnotes for all authorities cited.

    Our example document, for instance, would look like this after LegalCitation has written the footnotes:
